Ask a Kinkster

Isn’t BDSM full of people who abuse animals and children?

  No.

Louder, this time for those in the back.

  No.

Bestiality and Pedophilia are NOT things that self-respecting members of the BDSM community engage in. Neither is anything involved in SPRAIN.

What is SPRAIN?

SPRAIN is an acronym that a group in Arkansas came up with to better define the “given” hard limits that anyone worth playing with in the underground community adheres to. If a group says they do not tolerate SPRAIN, what they mean is there is no Snuff, no Pedophilia, no Rape (CNC being the most common exception), no Animals, no Incest, and no Necrophilia allowed. Alot of people like to add a S to the end according to their personal preferences regarding Scat- but the basic premise of consent and morality must be held in the highest esteem in the root Acronym.

What is CNC?

Consensual Nonconsent. Or as its commonly referred to - Rape play. This is different from the concept of Rape represented in SPRAIN, because of one key factor- Consent. The participating parties in CNC have fully negotiated all of the things they plan to engage in, and they have established a safeword to use as a ripcord in case anything in the scene goes sideways. Some people even engage in CNC as a way to reclaim past traumas they have experienced in their lives by recapturing the control and power over the situation by negotiating the details with someone they trust implicitly. It is absolutely a form of what we in the community call Edgeplay, and should not be engaged in on the fly, with someone you just met and don’t know, nor should it be taken lightly. Aftercare should be FULLY negotiated, and contingencies thoroughly planned for.

What is a Flogger?

It's a type of throwable impact toy. Think like a whip or a cat of nine tails, with more than just nine strands, or as we in the know call them, Falls.

It is a little stingy but it's much thuddier of an impact than a cat or a whip and being florentined is like

getting a really intense leather massage. (Florentine is a style of throwing floggers at your bottom in

a series of figure 8 patterns. There’s 4 point, and 6 point florentine. Most fire floggers, and fire poi

people in Side Show and Flow shows use the 6 point pattern.)
